He's had a little over 30 days on him. He packed in the mountains in Colorado his 2 year old year on a string line. This boy isn't scared of anything! He was "born broke". His willingness to please and to perform whatever task is asked of him, is just like his sire. If you are interested we have more videos of him. There's pictures here of him being ridden, without his saddle, and pictures of the packing saddle he took in the mountains. He's being ponied by his sire. Golden Royal Deuce "Deuce"
Deuce is a 2019 colt. He has not been gelded as we wait until the end of their yearling year in the winter to geld. This allows for additional growth and decreases infection due to flies, etc. from the Texas heat.
He ties, loads and unloads, leads, longes, bathes, stands for the farrier, and stands quietly for vaccinations.
He had an injury at 3 days of age to his front of his hind pasturn. His tendon and bone were lacerated. The vet was on premise when the injury occurred, so it was repaired immediately. After recovery he developed a sequestrum (an overgrowth of bone). Surgery was performed and he made a full recovery other than the blemish to the area. You can see from the videos it doesn't affect his movement.
After weaning, he came up with a laceration on his back, which has since healed, but has left a small scar as well.
There is nothing wrong with this guy, other than the fact he may not make it in a show pen, or be over looked by performers not wanting to start with something with blemishes.
He CAN be registered with APHA as well, I just never got around to doing it. He was eligible for some incentive enrollments, but with his accidents/scars I didn't think anyone would want to chance taking him to those futurities. If you'd like to find out if you would still be able to enroll him, let me know and I can find out the information for you.
